About me

I used to compete in Powerlifting and was becoming complacent with the repetitive movements. I first watched a local state comp in 2017 and fell in love with the atmosphere and unique events. After this, I was competing in my first Strongman comp in Feb the following year.

ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT

What does your competition day look like (Do you have a pre-comp ritual or superstitions)?
I’m a creature of habit, where my warmup habits and approach to events will mimic similar if not the same to how I’ve practised the specifics in training. Consistency is key to my performance, I need my routine and habits to be autonomous, the less thinking the better.
What is the most important mental aspect of your training and competing?
Remaining calm and removing distractions. Coming into warmups and events in comp, you’ll see me in a zone, avoiding others around me. My brain becomes distracted easily, and while I don’t wear headphones in competition, I tend to avoid eye contact and other people to keep myself in the zone and the comp environment
Who are your role models and why?
Chloe Brennan - she’s one powerhouse of an athlete, but she believes in the importance of enjoying the moments and journey of competing, otherwise why are we doing it in the first place?
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start in the sport?
Jump in and do it. The only way to get into the sport is to start. My advice is to not think and just do. You never know what you are capable of until you try
What are your plans and goals for the future in your sport and generally?
I’m competing in the Official Strongman Games in Dec this year, so my goal is top 10 (in the world). As a coach, I want to continue to inspire my clients and encourage them to keep believing in their capabilities. My favourite part of my job is watching the journey my clients go through, I find nothing more rewarding
What do you enjoy doing outside of the gym/sport?
I love food :) I’m very outdoorsy, my partner and I love hiking, beach trips, camping and random adventure days. I’m a social person, but I also love my own space, so when I need to unwind time, I’m generally reading or going on walks.
